How long have you been working in the IT industry?

Since May 2021

Which IT cliché would you like to dispel?

Women should believe in their own abilities and therefore not be afraid to challenge themselves more and dare to take the step into the IT sector. This is the only way to change society's idea that 'technology is male' in the future. In addition, I think there is a lack of female role models. For example, professors in technical courses: So far, I have not had a female professor in technical subjects and that at two different universities. I would therefore like to set an example and be a female role model in the IT sector.

Which IT cliché would you like to dispel?

  • Cliché of socially isolated people or loners
  • In IT, you work a lot in teams and collaboratively. Actually, it is necessary to be an open type, because you have a lot of contact with other people and other departments.

How long have you been working in the IT industry?

I have been working in IT management consultancy since 1995.

Which IT cliché would you like to dispel?

  • The stereotype of IT staff: introverted, self-reliant, shy, prefer to work alone rather than with others and don't really come out of their shell.
  • In general: that IT is a purely male domain.

I cannot confirm this in the many years I have been working in this industry. Of course there are exceptions and in the past (before 1995) this may have been perceived as such😊.

What I perceive today is: teamwork, common goals, exchange, a mutual transfer of knowledge and of course... that the proportion of women at s-peers AG is very respectable.

People in IT are mainly men who are only focused on their own programmes. They do not attach much importance to their appearance and good nutrition. We are men and women who take responsibility for others, consider life a challenge and also want to enjoy it.

I would like to show that there are many different professions in computer science and that the tasks are varied.

At s-peers, we work as a team, approach projects in an agile manner and are interdisciplinary. We are open to new things, ask questions and want to create measurable added value for our clients. Sure, we also work on the computer, but so do most people who work in an office.

How long have you been working in the IT industry?

Which IT cliché would you like to dispel?

American sitcoms like to communicate the following image of IT workers: Slightly overweight men in their mid-20s working alone on a project at night in poorly ventilated and poorly lit rooms - and drinking far too many energy drinks. In reality, however, it looks different: We work in small teams, self-organised, striving for the agile way of working. Projects are planned and carried out together.
