This wiki describes Seamless Planning, the seamless integration between SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) and SAP Datasphere (DSP). This connection optimizes, automates and accelerates planning processes. Transaction and master data can be persisted directly in SAP Datasphere, eliminating the need for manual exports and ensuring consistent, real-time information through automatic data synchronization. Future enhancements promise even deeper integration and optimized workflows.

1. the perfect connection between SAP Analytics Cloud and SAP Datasphere
In today's world, it is extremely important to react flexibly and quickly to changes and to make well-founded, data-based decisions. A central data platform and close collaboration between departments are the keys to success. Seamless Planning optimizes the connection between SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) and SAP Datasphere (DSP). This not only simplifies planning processes, but also accelerates them.
2 What is seamless planning?
Seamless planning refers to the Seamless integration of SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) and SAP Datasphere (DSP). Integration makes it possible, SAP Analytics Cloud Models and their data (transaction and master data) directly persist in the SAP Dataspherewithout having to load them separately. If activated accordingly, the SAP Analytics Cloud model (and its dimensions) can also be used in the Datasphere, e.g. in transformation flows or analytic models, as a basis for reporting.
The integration greatly simplifies both the efficient linking and use of data between the SAP Analytics Cloud and SAP Datasphere.
The following features are supported with the first release:
- Deployment of new SAP Analytics Cloud models in SAP Datasphere Spaces
- Persistence of transaction and master data in the SAP Datasphere
- Facts and public dimensions (except account dimension) can be consumed in Datasphere workflows (e.g. transformation flows)
- Full use of SAP Analytics Cloud functions, such as Excel add-in, possible
3. advantages of seamless planning
Automatic data synchronization
Changes to transaction and master data within the SAP Analytics Cloud are automatically transferred to SAP Datasphere
Greater efficiency
Degree of automation and real-time availability of data improve efficiency and decision-making in planning processes
Extended usage options
Consumption of SAP Analytics Cloud models and objects in SAP Datasphere, e.g. in transformation flows or analytic models
Improved data quality
Minimization of errors through direct data integration
Reduction of manual activities
Plan data no longer needs to be exported manually from the SAP Analytics Cloud to SAP Datasphere, but can be integrated directly and made available for reporting (also with other tools)
Elimination of import jobs
Import jobs are no longer required for loading master and actual data (in future) from SAP Datasphere into the SAP Analytics Cloud

4. requirements for use
To be able to use seamless planning, a number of requirements must be met:
- SAP Analytics Cloud and SAP Datasphere run on the same data center, only non-SAP data centers
- SAP Analytics Cloud and SAP Datasphere Tenant are connected in a 1:1 relationship
- SAP Analytics Cloud has migrated to HANA Cloud - information on the migration can be found in this blog post from SAP
5. current restrictions on functionality
With the current release, there are still some limitations in the functionality of Seamless Planning that need to be taken into account. These include the following aspects:
- Hierarchies in SAP Analytics Cloud models are not yet created automatically in SAP Datasphere and must be recreated there manually
- The use of public dimensions and currency conversion tables in different models requires the models and dimensions to be stored in the same Datasphere space
- Cross-model activities, such as data actions with cross-model copy steps, are only permitted if the models concerned have the same data persistence, i.e. either both are in the SAP Analytics Cloud or both are in the SAP Datasphere; cross-model activities in the Datasphere must also be in the same space
6. outlook: Roadmap features
In the future, the integration between SAP Analytics Cloud and SAP Datasphere will be further optimized and expanded . Additional features are planned to make the use and exchange of data even easier and more efficient.
According to SAP, the following features are planned:
- Option to migrate existing SAP Analytics Cloud models to seamless planning (change of persistence)
- Reuse of SAP Datasphere dimensions
- Comprehensive workflow management between SAP Analytics Cloud and SAP Datasphere with multi-actions and task chains
7. conclusion
Seamless Planning already offers an innovative solution for the seamless integration of planning processes between SAP Analytics Cloud and SAP Datasphere. The direct storage and use of data in both systems significantly improves the efficiency and accuracy of planning processes. Automatic data synchronization and extended usage options facilitate well-founded, data-based decisions and can optimize collaboration between departments.
Seamless planning also has a positive impact on reporting. Within the Datasphere, plan data can be merged with actual data and then used for live reporting in the SAP Analytics Cloud.
Even if there are still some limitations at present: The roadmap shows promising enhancements that will further improve integration and expand the possible applications.
