SAP Announcement: The SAP Datasphere

Announcement SAP Datasphere

Long-term consistent data management is a complex challenge for organizations because data is often stored in different systems and locations. As a result, companies must extract data from multiple sources and export it to a central location, which can lead to a loss of important contextual information. SAP Datasphere is the next generation of SAP's data management portfolio, enabling customers to easily access ready-to-use data across the entire data landscape.

SAP not only announced new strategic partnerships, but also SAP Datasphere as an innovative new product at the SAP Data Unleashed event on March 08, 2023 at 17:00. In this blog article you will find the most important information about the SAP Announcement.

1. the most important findings in advance

The SAP Datasphere enables ...

1.

... the development of a business data fabric architecture that can be used to link business-critical data while taking their semantic context into account.

2.

... through targeted partnerships, easy access to all necessary data of all business areas and the entire value chain of a company.

3.

... the harmonization of SAP and third-party data as an authoritative source of data processing and direct use in analytical business processes.

2. who are SAP's new partners and what contribution do they make?

Partnerships between technology companies are essential for a comprehensive data strategy today. Companies often have data landscapes consisting of multiple cloud platforms, sometimes with different providers, combined with on-premises and hosted systems.

SAP therefore aims to break new ground by collaborating with a select group of leading partners to create open data ecosystems that enable hundreds of millions of users worldwide to make informed, business-critical decisions.

SAP has unveiled four companies it will work with in the future to facilitate data exchange between companies, as well as data analytics and data management. The four companies are as follows.:

  1. Databricks,
  2. Confluent,
  3. Collibra and
  4. DataRobot.

By partnering with these data and AI companies, SAP Datasphere enables companies to build a unified data architecture that securely brings together SAP software and third-party data.

By cooperating with Databricks, SAP data can be integrated across the entire data lakehouse without losing its context. Confluent 's integration enables the transfer and application of real-time event and streaming data. The partnership with Collibra aims to build consistent data governance, and the cooperation with DataRobot builds augmented intelligence into the existing system.

What is the SAP Datasphere?

SAP Datasphere is a further development of the SAP Data Warehouse Cloud (DWC) and forms its next generation. As a user, you can already work with the new components, such as the Analytic Model, the new Catalog and the Replication Flows of SAP Datasphere.

3.1 Main objectives of SAP Datasphere

Automation has revolutionized the way we live and work - data management and analytics are now critical resources for successful businesses. SAP Datasphere is therefore designed to give customers faster access to business-critical data - across all SAP applications and even beyond. The new solution offers companies the ability to easily and securely integrate SAP data as well as data from other companies' applications and platforms.

Constant availability

Regulated access

Simplification of the data landscape

Preservation of the data context

Scalability

Cloud customers are also data customers, as they typically store and manage business-critical data in the cloud. With the new SAP Datasphere solution, SAP offers data specialists an end-to-end service for data management that enables scalable integration, cataloging, modeling, warehousing, federation and virtualization of data.

With this solution, companies can distribute business-critical data across their data landscape while maintaining business context and logic. SAP BTP, on which SAP Datasphere is based, provides powerful security features such as database security, encryption, and governance.

Existing SAP Data Warehouse Cloud customers can immediately benefit from the new SAP Datasphere capabilities in their product environment without any additional steps or migrations.

The solution enables automatic discovery, management, and control of data, as well as simplified real-time data replication. In addition, advanced data modeling ensures that the rich business context information of data from SAP applications is preserved

4. what are the capabilities and features of a business data fabric architecture?

4.1 What possibilities does the Business Data Fabric offer?

The business data fabric makes it possible to build a unified, fully comprehensive platform. In doing so, data can be standardized more easily and direct connections to sources and end users can be created. The company can therefore pursue a more data-driven strategy by accelerating and simplifying data management.

4.2 What are the characteristics of the Business Data Fabric?

  1. Data Quality, Data Privacy, Data Catalog
