SAP Embedded Analytics

Wiki. Embedded Analytics

SAP Embedded Analytics is, so to speak, a high-performance operational reporting in real time, which is presented via a Fiori application. SAP Embedded Analytics contains a variety of applications for analyses. It is not necessary to prepare and replicate the data in a data warehouse. The data can be accessed at any time from all end devices. This availability of real-time data makes it possible to react promptly.

What SAP Embedded Analytics does not offer

SAP Embedded Analytics does not offer data consolidation as in a data warehouse and does not offer the possibility to use BPC (Business Planning and Consolidation). Interface changes and functions must be carried out by a software developer. In addition, further developments are limited to S4/HANA Cloud.

What is the insight-to-action paradigm?

In contrast to other analysis tools, embedded analytics has one decisive advantage: insight-to-action. This means that the user can directly carry out an action from the findings of an analysis. This means that the user can jump directly from an analytical application to a transactional application in order to carry out a business action there.

How does data modelling work?

The data modelling runs virtually and does not have to be persisted. ABAP CDS views are used as a common domain-specific basis to implement search, analysis, planning and transaction functions. These ABAP CDS views are made available to the analysis tool via OData service.

What analytical apps are available?

1.

Query Browser

A variety of CDS views are already available via the Query Browser, which enable a multidimensional ad-hoc report. This provides filtering, pivoting and sorting functions. The report can be presented both in tabular and graphical form.

2.

Overview Pages

A Overview Page provides a dashboard of different analytical maps with different functional areas. It helps to, quickly aoverview of certain processes and conditions.

3.

Smart Business KPIs

Smart Business KPIs support faster decision-making. The role-based and pre-configured Fiori Apps give the user transparent real-time access to information in the form of a KPI tile. Using the Analysis Path Framework, interactive web applications can be developed and enhanced. For example, drill-down functions can be performed in multidimensional representation on specific KPIs. The definition of threshold values is also offered, which semantically mark the values in colour. This makes it easier to check the values.

Is the data model expandable?

The virtual data model provides semantic access to business data based on CDS views. It enables unified patterns in the implementation and a common naming convention based on business terms. Power users can also extend existing CDS Views (e.g. add new fields) or create new CDS Views based on existing CDS Views.

Can I change the appearance of the Fiori Apps?

All Fiori apps were developed using SAPUI5. SAPUI5 is a web development framework based on JavaScript, CSS and HTML5. It follows the Fiori Usability Guidelines and is designed to provide users with an intuitive and easy-to-understand application. The SAPUI5 framework also creates responsive interfaces. Responsive means that the interface adapts to any monitor size (desktop, laptop, mobile ...) accordingly. This framework also allows to visually change any Fiori app. Thus, the corporate identity can be guaranteed here as well. Likewise, completely custom apps can be developed using SAPUI5.
